How can you tell real aquamarine from fake?

A fake may have too vibrant a color or show visible bubbles if glass or plastic.
Are aquamarine stones durable?

Yes. They have a hardness of 7.5 – 8 on the Mohs scale. A diamond (the hardest) is a 10 on the Mohns scale. They do not fade, but are typically heat treated to enhance their color and remove any traces of yellow or green undertones. The color change is permanent.
Can aquamarine get wet?

Yes, it is resistant to water damage. Saltwater or chlorinated water should be avoided, however.
What different colors of aquamarine are there, and which is most valuable?
